If you are interested in adopting one of the dogs through Little Dog Rescue of North Texas, we have a multi-step process.
- The first step is to fill out the Adoption Application.
- The second step is a review of the application by volunteers. This can take up to week to happen. Dogs are matched with applicants based on the information provided, so please be sure to fill out the application completely and thoroughly. NOTE: additional available dogs are posted on the Facebook page, so be sure to visit it as well
- Once the applications are reviewed, the adoption team will contact the preferred applicants via email to set up a visit with the dog being applied for. NOTE: Multiple visits regarding the same dog will more than likely be scheduled.
- Visits will usually be scheduled in the home where the dog is being fostered AND in the applicant’s home. Please make sure everyone that will live in the home with the dog is present for this visit, or the visit will be rescheduled. This includes other pets that will be living in the home.
- If you are not contacted within 2 weeks of applying for a specific dog, it is likely that you were not selected for that particular dog. Please do not call or message us asking when you will be contacted. We get dozens of great applications each day and review each application carefully so that we can make decisions based on what we feel is the best home for each dog.
NOTE: being selected for a particular dog does not mean you are disqualified from adopting a future dog with our organization, it just means you were not the right match for that specific dog.

Adoption Contract
- Once you are approved to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an ADOPTION CONTRACT. Upon receipt of the adoption contract, we will also collect the adoption fee via check or PayPal and schedule the time for delivery (or pick up) of the dog you have been approved for.
